Frank Barros leading a sport route. |
Last weekend, I went to the Adirondacks with Frank Barros of Berkshire School to look for areas he can take his climbers on their weekend trips. We tried Spanky's Wall first, which has a short approach and some easier climbs. We lead some easy route on trad gear, to warm up, then moved around the corner to some newer bolt-protected lines. Frank led a 5.8 called Bee Hold, which I followed successfully, then I tried a nearby 5.7 with one fall and Frank climbed a 10c, toproping off the same anchor.
Back around the corner again is another area called the Vanity Wall, where we did another trad route and eyeballed the possibilities.
The next day we went to the Lower Beer Walls and did another batch of nice climbs, from 5.5 to 5.9. Since we wanted to see how easy it would be for Frank to set top-ropes, we left the rack behind and only climbed what we could top-rope.
